Gyrotonic® Method

WHAT IS IT?

The GYROTONIC® method is an original, and unique movement practice which
offers similar benefits also derived from Yoga, Tai Chi, and dance. GYROTONIC® exercise sequences are composed of spiralling, circular movements, which flow together seamlessly in rhythmic repetitions with corresponding breath.

SPECIALIZED EQUIPMENT

The body is designed to work as one harmonious system, to follow arching and spiralling paths of motion, and to transition smoothly and efficiently from one movement to the next. GYROTONIC® method creator, Juliu Horvath, designed a specialized line of highly adjustable equipment around these natural movement patterns of the human body.

WHO IS IT FOR?

GYROTONIC® classes can be adapted to fit anyone’s ability and the method is practiced by people from all walks of life, from accomplished athletes and dancers, to college students, senior citizens, and people with disabilities.

What my clients are saying

“Rebecca is absolutely incredible and a true gem! I’m soo lucky to have discovered her. I take private Gyrotonic sessions with her and the way she executes her instruction is truly an art. She is intuitive, very knowledgeable in a non pretentious way, and is sensitive to my individual needs. She has a vibrant, sweet and playful aura and makes me feel relaxed which is not an easy task. She has the natural ability to hone in on my strengths, and senses what I need by taking into consideration my previous injuries or areas I need to strengthen as well as simply noticing how I’m feeling in that moment/session and thus making that session just what I needed. She really takes in what you tell her you want to work on and tailors her sessions to that AND also integrates more challenging exercises as she observes your skill and strength develop. When I’m there in the day time we take advantage of the fresh air and do creative exercises she’s developed  outside  which is awesome and makes for a magical and well rounded session. Always leave her sessions feeling better, more confident and looking forward to the next!”  Ellen H.

“Rebecca is a fantastic teacher. She is really skilled at using imagery that helps you understand what your body needs to be doing. She’s also very attuned to bones and muscles and can tell in a quick glance if you are properly aligned and engaging the right muscles.” Ariane C.

“Rebecca is incredible. I worked with her privately for six weeks in Berlin and the results were entirely great. She is an entirely skilled, deeply intuitive instructor, filled with great insight and assistance. Rebecca has a wonderful presence that I sense puts all her clients at ease. She really listens and she really cares and she really knows her stuff! I can’t say enough good things about her…just discover for yourself!” Mirran R.

A little bit of History

Rebecca discovered her love for movement at a young age through classical ballet, contemporary dance, competitive team sports & gymnastics. It was not until she reached her 20’s that she realized she wished to pursue a career as a professional dancer. In 2009 she completed a BFA in Contemporary Dance & Choreography from Concordia University in Montreal.

As a pioneer of the Hoop Dance movement, even before graduating from her professional dance training, she was offered many unique opportunities to both teach and perform all over the world. With big ambitions she rushed around for many years and in fact overtrained.

As a result she was held back by a serious injury. Completely devastated, Rebecca felt as though her dance career was ending just as it was beginning. After many treatments and even considering surgery, she discovered the Gyrotonic Method. Working with her gifted healers and trainers she found a new, more conscious way of moving through which she learned to love and understand her body, allowing her to continue her dance and physical performance career. So grateful to the method she pursued certification in Germany at the Gyrotonic European Headquarters.

Rebecca’s passion is to share her love for movement, helping her clients to re-discover their body, learn to heal themselves and reconnect to their centre through the Gyrotonic Method and Yoga. She enjoys working with people of all ages, and experience levels. As a certified Yoga and Gyrotonic Teacher, she continues to study yoga, Gyrotonic and other methods of healing and bringing the body and mind into alignment. The journey is endless, and she is enjoying the ride, and all the interesting lessons and people she encounters along the way.

She teaches The Gyrotonic Method from her private home studio Disco Gym in Silver Lake, Los Angeles, as well as at In-Spiraling Gyrotonic Studio in Santa Monica, Los Angeles.
